*With the economy taking a severe beating during the Covid-forced lockdown, UP government has passed an ordinance suspending a majority of labour laws in the state for three years. This is an attempt to help both existing and new industrial units, say government sources.
*Machhli Mohal locality was sealed on Thursday after seven cases of novel coronavirus were reported from the neighbourhood on Wedneday, taking the number of hotspots in the city to 14.
*Directing officials to ensure that nobody walks back home, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that the government was making all efforts in deploying buses and trains to bring back stranded migrants. From Friday, the government was expecting about 30,000 people to arrive in UP
*More than 1.48 lakh people registered on the government’s Jan Sunwai portal on Thursday, requesting to be brought back to UP from other states that they have been stuck in since the lockdown was imposed. In three days since the service started, more than 5 lakh people have registered on the portal, either to be brought back to UP or be allowed to go from UP to their respective home states.
