NEW DELHI: The Centre has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to ramp up surveillance of severe acute respiratory illnesses (SARI) and influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and test at least 250 samples from each district to keep a check on spread of the coronavirus.
During a review meeting, Union health minister Harsh Vardhan directed the state authorities to increase surveillance in unaffected districts to identify such cases. "At least 250 cases of SARI and ILI should be surveyed in every district," he said. The Union minister also lauded efforts by the state to control the spread of highly infectious disease.
He also held a meeting with authorities from Odisha and West Bengal.
