Guwahati girl tests Covid-19 positive after death

GUWAHATI: A 16-year-old tested positive for Covid-19 in Guwahati on Thursday night after her death at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital the previous day.
The girl was staying in the B Barooah Cancer Institute campus where her grandmother was working as a cleaner.
The cancer institute authorities stated that the girl was suffering from fever and consulted an ESI doctor and she taken to hospital after she started vomiting. Doctors became suspicious after the girl died and took her swab, which tested positive.
The cancer institute in the city has been closed for three days and services except emergency services in the institute will remain shut till May 10, director of the cancer institute Dr Amal Kataki said.
“We have decided to close the institute so that Covid-19 does not spread to other people including doctors, nurses and staff,” Dr Kakati said.
