YAMUNANAGAR: During the first phase of Covid-19 lockdown, a woman, who was 8-month pregnant started her journey on feet along with two minor daughters and a migrant labourer husband, from Rajpura, Patiala to reach their native state Uttar Pradesh (UP).
On April 1, while on her journey back home, Shanti of Lakshampur village in Shahjahanpur district of UP, along with her family reached Chhachhrauli, and their movement was stopped by the Yamunanagar district administration and they were quarantined at a shelter home in Chhachhrauli.
In Yamunanagar, Bilaspur sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Naveen Ahuja told, “On April 1, when Shanti reached Chhachhrauli she was 8-month pregnant and very weak. The teams of women and child development, health, and panchayat departments looked after her and family. She was given proper care due to which she gained 3-4 kg weight. Then she gave birth to a healthy boy at the community health centre (CHC), Chhachhrauli on April 25.”
Shanti told, “I did not face any problem during my stay in Chhachhrauli, and officers and nurses took care of me very well. Due to their care, I could give birth to my child in these difficult times of coronavirus. I was not in the hope to give birth to a healthy baby but the officials here took care of us and I managed to give birth to a healthy boy. Now I am going home, and I will remain in debt of this kindness for the whole life.”
On Friday, Shanti, her children and husband have been facilitated by the Yamunanagar district administration for their travel back to the native village in UP in a cab.
SDM Naveen said, “After delivering the baby, Shanti was under treatment at CHC, Chhachhrauli and she was recently declared medically fit to travel along with her baby.”
“On Friday, we have arranged a special cab for the family along with movement passes, so that they can easily reach their home in Shahjahanpur district of UP. Following the tradition of our region, we have gifted her basket full of fruits and other essential items. We arranged and specially prepared panjiri (nutritional supplement) for her as per the tradition and also gave her shagun”, added SDM Naveen.
During the moment, the present officials, employees, doctors, and nurses clapped for the woman and happily bid goodbye to her.
SDM Naveen said, “The special arrangement of a cab has been made on the orders of the district deputy commissioner Mukul Kumar, who continuously kept an eye on this case, so that, she does not face any inconvenience in her travel to reach home.”
On this occasion, Chhachhrauli BDPO Jogesh Kumar, child development program officer (CDPO) Seema Prasad, Dr Sapna, Dr Jignesh, staff nurse Sonia and supervisor Nardeep from CHC Chhachhrauli and other officials were present.
