Ludhiana: A group of city residents have formed an NGO, Helping Hands, to serve the needy people in this hour of crisis.
Since March 23, as many as 400 families have contributed their resources to server over two thousand families.
Dr Arun Mitra, co-president of International Association of Physicians, said, “Initially it was thought that we would be able to provide ration once or twice. Response of everyone involved was very encouraging and we did not run out of money.”
M S Bhatia, an ex-employee of Central Bank of India, said, “Many families have been given ration three times so far. Apart from this, langar service run by various social and religious organizations in the city is being facilitated by us in different parts of the city daily.”
Team members Anod Kumar, Anil Kumar, Saroj Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Ramadhar Singh, Kuldeep Singh Binder help in packing ration and supplying it to different places.
Similarly, Bhagwant Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Sita Ram and Sanjeev assist in delivering ration packets at different points.
We are thankful to Gadri Baba Dulla Singh and Giani Nihal Singh Foundation, Jalaldiwal, CII and PepsiCo who gave ration kits to nearly 150 families in Ludhiana.
Various religious and social organizations, on our request, provided daily langar to thousands of the needy.
