Representative imageTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: No new Covid-19 cases were reported for the second consecutive day in the state on Thursday. Presently, only 25 active cases are undergoing treatment as five more people tested negative in the day. Only six districts in the state are having active cases now.
Of the 25 active cases, 15 are in Kannur. There is also considerable decrease in the number of people under observation. As many as 16,693 persons are placed under surveillance, out of which 16,383 are under home isolation and 310 are admitted in designated isolation facilities.
Till date, 35,171samples (including augmented samples) have been sent for testing, out of which 34,519 came as negative. Besides, 3,035 samples were taken from priority groups like healthcare workers, persons with high social exposure, etc, as part of sentinel surveillance, of which 2,337 samples tested negative.
Test results of five Covid-19 patients under treatment have been declared negative. Three of them are from Kannur and two from Kasaragod.
At present, Thiruvananthapuram has the most number of people under observation with 3,166, followed by Palakkad (2,923), Kottayam (1,780), Kollam (1,392), Idukki (1,095) and Malappuram (1,017). All the other districts have less than thousand people under observation.
Health minister K K Shailaja launched an interactive health portal https://health.kerala.gov.in for comprehensive information on various activities of the health department. “The portal is launched at an appropriate time as the whole world is going through Covid-19, one of the worst pandemics. This portal will give you the status of the pandemic in the state. All information regarding basic indicators is made available through an interactive dashboard,” said the minister.
