UP's Covid-19 tally crosses 3000-mark

LUCKNOW: Migrant workers continued to add to UP's Covid tally as 14 of them tested positive out of 85 new cases on Thursday. UP's total climbed to 3083 even as the the state recorded five deaths in the past 24 hours. One of them was a journalist with an Agra daily.
For the third day in row, the total number of person discharged was more than the new cases. As many as 120 patients were discharged on Thursday, taking the total to 1250.
In Agra, a senior journalist with a national Hindi daily passed away around 10.15 pm at SN Medical College. Earlier during the day, death of an 11-year-old child - who tested positive on Wednesday - undergoing treatment for jaundice was reported. The third death in the Taj City was that of a 65-year-old woman with history of renal ailment. A native of Sikandra, she tested positive for Covid two days ago. The death in Meerut took place late on Wednesday while the one in Kanpur took place on May 4.
In another development, a suspected Covid death surfaced in Ballia where a 65-year-old migrant labourer, who had returned from Rajasthan and kept at quarantine centre in Ballia died on Wednesday. "He suffered respiratory problem besides having history of Tuberculosis while had also TB in past. His COVID-19 test report is awaited," officials stated. Migrant workers testing positive surfaced in different districts. A migrant worker, who worked as a vegetable vendor in Delhi and returned home on May 2, tested positive for Coronavirus in Mainpuri. The patients are presently under treatment at Bhogaon's Covid L1 ward.
As per reports Mumbai returned woman in Mirzapur and Delhi returned native of Azamgarh also tested positive. In Agra, a worker from Delhi was among the 15 new cases.
Two such cases were reported in Gonda, three each in Banda and Siddhartnagar and one in Balrampur.
GB Nagar crossed the 200-mark with 10 new cases. In Firozabad, a constable and a nursing assistant tested positive.
