Railways uses drones to check migrant workers flooding station

Ludhiana: Railway security forces have taken the help of drone patrolling surveillance system across railway tracks passing through migrant labour areas here on Wednesday. They have sealed all unmanned crossings falling under areas of migrant labour to ensure the smooth flow of all special Shramik trains passing through Ludhiana towards Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Railway authorities have asked local security forces to conduct night patrolling across railway tracks passing through labour areas for creating awareness among them that they should not come out at the city railway station to catch trains to their home states, because railways have not resumed their service of running trains from one state to another through ticket bookings.
Several reports have emerged that migrant workers were constantly visiting the city railway station to board trains heading towards Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, after which police forces were increased around Dhandhari and Sahnewal sub-stations, to see that the workers do not catch the special trains.
RPF inspector Anil Kumar said, “With the support of the local administration, railway authorities are conducting drone patrolling across the railway station to ensure the safety of migrants who had registered themselves on government portals to return to their home towns.”
Meanwhile, Government Railway Police (GRP) officials are taking every possible step to provide food items to all labourers returning to their home states in special trains.
