First Graphene and planarTech in face mask and PPE venture | ||
![]() First Graphene Ltd (ASX:FGR) and planarTECH (Holdings ) Ltd are to collaborate on a range of graphene-enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE) products. PlanarTECH says it has already developed a face mask that utilises a graphene coating to provide anti-static and bacteria-resistant properties to the mask and needs to increase manufacturing capability to meet the demand caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The mask already uses PureGraph additives supplied by First Graphene, but now the companies want to ramp up production. The face mask will be manufactured by planarTECH under their 2AM brand and will be washable and reusable with resistance to bacteria and airborne particles. Both companies will work together to test the use of PureGraph materials in anti-static coating for PPE purposes and expect a quick scale up to manufacturing of the face mask. Craig McGuckin, First Graphene’s managing director said: “We have been very impressed by the speed to commercialisation that planarTECH have achieved with the graphene face masks and we are pleased to support the growth of this opportunity”. Ray Gibbs, planarTECH's chairman, said, “For successful growth of our business, planarTECH is seeking a graphene supply partner that can reliably deliver high-quality consistent products. “We are very aware of First Graphene’s robust supply capability delivered globally from its Australian facility. “Following on from significant trials utilising PureGRAPH materials and we are excited about this collaboration to meet the rapid growth in demand for face masks and other PPE products.” |
