FALL RIVER – The city on Thursday reported three more deaths associated with COVID-19, raising the local death toll to 11.

Mayor Paul Coogan and Director of Health and Human Services Tess Curran announced 30 more COVID-19 cases in the city on Thursday. A total of 685 residents have contracted the disease caused by the novel coronavirus to date, according to a press release.

“Please remember you must wear a face covering/mask in public places when social distancing is not possible. Continue to take the necessary precautions to keep you and your loved ones healthy,” Coogan said in a Facebook post.

The Department of Public Health on Thursday reported 1,696 new COVID-19 cases statewide, bringing the total count in Massachusetts to 73,721.

The health department reported 132 new confirmed coronavirus deaths, raising the death toll in the Bay State to 4,552.

State health officials said that 11,993 more tests were reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 tests administered up to 351,632.

There were 4,529 confirmed cases in Bristol County Thursday, an increase of 149 from the day before. The death toll county-wide rose by 9 up to 232.

The number of positive cases in Bristol County as of Thursday was approximately 950 higher than the number of positive cases reported one week ago, according to the Department of Public Health.

Fall River Healthcare had over 30 cases, Catholic Memorial Home held steady at under 10 cases, Kimwell had over 30 cases, Sarah Brayton still had under 10 cases, Southpointe Rehab Center had over 30 cases, and Brandon Woods Dartmouth had over 30 cases.

St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford had 72 patients, including 14 in the intensive care unit. Charlton Memorial Hospital is caring for 44 patients, only 9 of whom are in the ICU. And, 63 COVID-19 are hospitalized at Morton Hospital in Taunton, with 11 of them in the ICU.
