Books distribution at government schools in Chandigarh on May 8

CHANDIGARH: The heads and teachers of some of the government schools’ reached their respective schools on Thursday, a day before the distribution of the books is to begin, to make necessary arrangements to ensure social distancing during the distribution. District education officer also asked teachers to begin with distribution of books for class VIII first and to ensure that teachers called up the parents and inform them about the guidelines to be followed. Only one parent would be allowed to pick up the books from the school.
Schools on their own bought sanitizers to ensure every parent sanitizes hands at the entrance. The books have been kept in sets with child’s name on top. To ensure zero contact during the distribution of books, teachers have been given designated rooms and in each room book sets have been kept with child’s name. The teacher would sit outside and give the slip to the parent who would then go inside take the set and sign the receiving. The parent would be asked to put the signed slip in the box.
