GURUGRAM: The district administration on Wednesday issued an order specifying the categories of standalone, neighbourhood and residential shops allowed to be open in the rural and urban areas of the district.
The order released by the deputy commissioner stated that the municipal corporation has to ensure that social distancing is maintained by shopkeepers and customers. “All shopkeepers, traders and market association representatives should tie up with the MCG, police to explore colour strip marking in front of their shops to identify shops in A, B, C and D category. Moreover, all shops and establishments should ensure permanent paint marking inside and outside their premises. These marks shall be 6 feet apart and it shall be ensured that people visiting and working on the premises maintain social distancing by means of those marks,” read the order.

Shops selling essentials such as vegetables, groceries, medicines, courier, postal services etc. have been put in ‘category A’ and will remain open on all days from 9am to 5pm.
Shops that provide services like plumbing, electricians, fans, coolers, AC repair shops etc. , cycle stores and repairs, inverter battery, genset, electronic items — laptops, watches, clocks, mobiles and their repair, mobile recharge, water purifiers, LED, refrigerators, microwaves — and ovens, stove etc have been kept in ‘category B’ and will remain open between 9am and 3pm only on Mondays and Thursdays.
Similarly, other stores and shops in the district too have been divided in the other two categories and issued an order mentioning the days of the week they can remain open and their timings. The shops in ‘category C’ will remain open from 9am to 3pm on Tues-days and Fridays, while shops in ‘category D’ can operate only on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 9am and 3pm. Officials said the MCG officials and SHO traffic or SHO concerned have been given the responsibility to identify suitable sites for parking of vehicles in a staggered manner. The SDMs and MCG joint commissioners of each zone have been asked to constitute inspection teams in order to regulate the crowd in markets and check whether social distancing is followed or not.
