Horror as retiree, 74, is killed inside a home - before a 31-year-old man is found next door and charged with murder

A 31-year-old man has been charged with murder after a 74-year-old retiree was found dead inside of his home.
Anthony Davies was arrested in the neighbouring home to the dead man on Best Street in Parkes in Central West New South Wales at 11pm on Wednesday.
Police discovered the elderly man's body in his home after being called about 'welfare concerns' at 4pm.

Officers set up a crime scene around the home and began investigating, which led to Davies' arrest in the house next door.
Davies did not live in the home he was discovered in, nor the elderly man's home, according to NSW Police.

It is unclear what his relationship to the elderly man was, if he had any at all.
He was taken to Parkes Police Station where he was charged with one count of murder.
Davies was refused bail to appear in Dubbo Local Court on Thursday via video link.
