Coronavirus Live Updates: 89 Dead, Over 3,500 Tested Positive In Last 24 Hours In India

The total number of novel coronavirus cases in India climbed to 52,952 on Thursday morning, while 1,783 people have died due to the deadly infection even as the country remains in the third phase of the nationwide lockdown with relaxed restrictions.

India witnessed 89 new deaths, while another 3,601 people tested positive for the deadly infection in the lats 24 hours, according to the latest numbers released by the ministry of health and family welfare.

"Thus, around 28.83 per cent patients have recovered so far," a senior health ministry official said.

11:35 AM: Rajasthan recorded two more coronavirus deaths on Thursday, while 38 people tested positive for the virus, an official said. The death toll in the state has climbed to 95.

11:00 AM: Of the 1,783 fatalities, Maharashtra tops the tally with 651 fatalities, Gujarat comes second with 396 deaths, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 185, West Bengal at 144, Rajasthan at 92, Delhi at 65, Uttar Pradesh at 60 and Andhra Pradesh at 36.
