Telangana: More centres, staff may be added for SSC exams

Students appear for SSC exams in Madhura Nagar earlier this year
HYDERABAD: With chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announcing that SSC examinations would be held later this month, officials from the Board of Secondary Education are making arrangements to add more centres and examination staff to ensure that the state can approach the high court with a foolproof plan.
The director of the government examination (DGE) A Satyanarayana Reddy confirmed that exam centres would mostly be doubled from the existing 2,500 as the number of students in a class should be reduced by half to ensure social distancing.
“We have asked district education officers to submit a list of additional centres available. They should be submitting the list in the next two to three days,” said Reddy, adding that the state would soon approach the advocate general. Reddy said that the number of students in a class would be limited to 10 or 12.
The officials said that the first priority is to make use of the additional rooms at a centre. If the rooms are not enough then a neighbourhood school would be added. Invigilators, departmental officers, chief superintendents and other staff will also be roped in. The department is also making transportation arrangements for students. They will also be disinfecting exam centres every day.
