While it will impose fines ranging from as small as Rs 25 to Rs 500 on those violating social distancing norms, offenders may also be jailed for a month depending on the severity of the violation.
The ULB department has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to enforce social distancing in market areas within MCG limits. HSVP sector markets, malls as well as shopping complexes will, however, remain shut.
The SOP includes maintaining a minimum of 6ft distance between shopkeeper and customer and between customers.
“Use of masks and gloves are mandatory. Sanitisers and thermal scanners should be given to guards,” an MCG official said. Challans with fines ranging Rs 25 to Rs 500 will be issued as per provisions of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994 and the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973. Offenders may also be booked under Section 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) of the IPC based on the severity of the case, and may get a jail t
