The Indian navy ship INS Jalashwa reached Maldives as part of the Operation Samudra Setu to evacuate Indian nationals stranded in the country due to Covid-19 lockdown. The Navy has deployed two ships for Operation Samudra Setu, which is part of the bigger 'Vande Bharat Mission'. The ship can accommodate 1,000 people, but will bring back around 900 people only, keeping in mind social distancing norms being followed during the pandemic. INS Jalashwa entered the Male port today morning under the first phase of the Operation Samudra Setu. The High Commission of India in Maldives said, 'INS Jalashwa entered Male port for the first phase under Operation Samudra Setu to repatriate Indians from Maldives.'
