Man nabbed for raping 7-yr-old

Ludhiana: A 28-year-old labourer has been nabbed for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl on Wednesday afternoon. The accused and minor girl live in the same labour quarters in Ludhiana.
Police said the accused took the girl to his one-room rented accommodation on the pretext of showing her his smartphone, and raped her. The accused also threatened the girl to keep silent. However, she narrated the whole incident to her mother, following which the family and other residents of the quarters nabbed the accused, and handed him over to the police.
In his complaint to the police, the minor girl’s father alleged that the accused was a labourer, and lived on the first floor of the labour quarters, while he — along with his family — lived on the ground floor of the quarters. On Wednesday afternoon, his daughter had gone on the terrace, where the accused called her by showing his smartphone and took her to his room. There, he allegedly raped the girl, and also threatened her not to tell it to anyone.
However, when the girl came downstairs crying, her mother asked her for the reason, and then she told her mother about the incident. The accused was present in his room, where he was nabbed. Thereafter, the police were called. Inspector Mohammad Jameel said the police had registered a case against the accused under sections 376 (rape) of the IPC, and Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
