Representative ImageTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Only 30 active positive cases are remaining of the 502 cases reported in the state till date. No positive cases were reported on Wednesday; however, seven more people tested negative for Covid-19.
The day also saw the last active case reported in Pathanamthitta getting discharged after 42 days of hospitalization. Exactly after two months the first case was reported, Pathanamthitta has become Covid-19 free. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said eight districts in the state have become Covid-19 free. A total of 14,670 persons are placed under surveillance, out of which 14402 are under home isolation and 268 are admitted in designated isolation facilities.
Till date 34,599 samples (including augmented samples) have been sent for testing, out of which 34063 have come out as negative. In addition, 2,947 samples were taken from priority groups like health care workers, persons with high social exposure, workers, etc. as part of sentinel surveillance of which 2,147 samples tested negative. Test results of seven Covid-19 patients under treatment have been declared negative of which six are from Kottayam (one Idukki native) and one from Pathanamthitta. At present, 30 positive cases are under treatment.
The state government has requested the New Delhi government to arrange special train to bring back the Kerala students stranded in the four states. There are 723 students stranded in four states; Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The respective state government have also been requested to arrange vehicles to transport the students to Delhi if special train is arranged.
The chief minister said that so far 6,802 Keralites from other states have reached here through the interstate borders. More number of people have come from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra, including 66 pregnant women.
Massive crowd has been reported at the Walayar border and there are reports that the people had to wait for long hours to get the clearance to enter the state. Hence specific instructions have been given to the concerned departments to avoid the delay, the CM said.
