Pune: Senior citizen duped of Rs 1.1 lakh in online fraud

PUNE: A 68-year-old woman lost Rs 1.10 lakh to online fraud on the pretext of having two of her debit cards updated online.
The woman approached the Sangvi police and lodged an FIR against the telecaller on Tuesday. The complainant lost Rs 10,000 from her pension account in Pune and Rs 1 lakh from her savings account in Bengaluru. Both the accounts were with a public sector bank.
Inspector Ajay Bhosale of the Sangvi police told TOI, "On April 30, she shared her card details with an unidentified telecaller and lost Rs 5,000 within minutes. She contacted the bank's customer care blocked her cards after that. But, on May 2 she received five messages stating that a total of Rs 1.05 lakh had been debited from her both the bank accounts on May 1 - one lakh from her Bengaluru account and Rs 5,000, from her pension account."
