Police found Manoj Siwach’s service pistol with which he had presumably shot his wife and himself beside his body inside a sugarcane collection office. He had a bullet injury in the head. Delhi Police was tracking the constable, who seemed to have used all his guile and resources to evade arrest. However, he ran out of options once he reached Jamalpur near Meerut and wanted his relatives to give him shelter. After they refused, Siwach went to a sugarcane field.
Killer cop’s kin to be quizzed
When cops reached the house of Siwach’s kin in Jamalpur, they said he had made a dash for the cane fields where his body was found. It was taken for an autopsy at a local hospital and handed over to the family members. Cops have recovered Siwach’s mobile phone to find out if he was in touch with any friend or family member.
Police officers say that the prima facie enquiry suggests that he was having a discord with his wife, Renu, as her family was allegedly opposed to her marrying a man who had already married once.
Siwach’s family members would be questioned by the cops soon. Meanwhile, Renu’s body was cremated after an autopsy on Wednesday.
Superintendent of police (rural), Meerut, Avinash Pandey told TOI, “The crime scene was reconstructed and everything fell into place. Forensic teams were also pressed into service. We recovered the service weapon from the spot. Siwach’s body was sent for post-mortem.”
