Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Chennai accounts for 316 of 580 new cases

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 580 Covid-19 cases on Thursday, with 316 of them in Chennai, according to a bulletin issued by the control room of the Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
The total number of cases in the state has reached to 5,409.
Death toll rose to 37. A 56-year-old woman admitted to Kilpauk Medical College died on Wednesday while a 48-year-old woman admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital died in the early hours of Thursday. Doctors said both the patients had comorbidities.
Tiruvallur reported 63 new cases while Villupuram has 45, Cuddalore 32, Perambalur, 33 and Ariyalur 24 new cases.
Twenty-two of the total 37 districts in Tamil Nadu reported the new cases. Most of them are linked to the Koyambedu cluster.
As many as 31 people were discharged from various hospitals in the state on Thursday while 3,822 patients were still undergoing treatment.
