Truckload of hay being driven to drought-ravaged farmers mysteriously goes up in flames before reaching its destination
- A truckload of hay bales self-ignited near Hervey Bay in Queensland on Thursday

A truck has caught on fire after a delivery of hay bales bound for drought-ravaged farmers self-ignited.
The truck burst into flames on Maryborough Hervey Bay Road, near Hervey Bay in Queensland, at about 4am on Thursday.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) firefighters were called to the scene to put out the self-combusting blaze.

They warned locals about plumes of smoke in an update at 5.30am.
'Firefighters are working to extinguish the fire which is currently producing a large volume of smoke that may affect nearby residents,' QFES read.
'Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by.
'Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.'
Clayton's Maryborough crew were called in to recover the badly damaged truck.
'Truck load of hay, self combusting this morning on Maryborough Hervey Bay Road,' the service wrote on Facebook along side photos of the destruction.
Pictures showed hay bales sprawled along the road, retardant sprayed across the truck and it's inside charred by the flames.
It's understood the hay bales were on their way to be delivered to farmers.
