Representative image. (AP photo)BELAGAVI: A migrant labourer who was going by foot to his hometown in Jharkhand died on Thursday at Chikkodi.
46-year-old Babulal Singh along with ten others started their journey from Khanapur in the early morning hours of Tuesday reached Chikkodi which is nearly 100 Kms away from the starting point.
According to sources Babulal collapsed when he reached near check-post. With the help of police personnel and locals he was moved to nearby govt hospital for treatment where he died failing to respond to treatment. The sources say that he died due to exhaustion.

The police said UDR (Unnatural Death Report) case has been registered at relevant police station and family members have been notified.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Laxman Nimbargi talking to ToI said the workers were found walking at the check-post. The man who was ill was taken to hospital at Chikkodi for treatment along with others who underwent screening. All the workers were staying at VIPL company shelter and not government facility. "We have informed the family member Babulal about the demise," SP informed.
