Ugam leads a mission to feed those facing hunger lockdown

Bengaluru, May 7, 2020: Guided by a philosophy to drive genuine impact for all stakeholders,Ugam, a Merkle company, has been supporting vulnerable communities through education and health initiatives. With the outbreak of COVID-19, the company is leading a community welfare mission to feed those facing hunger lockdown. Itis aiming toraise INR 50 lakhs viaGiveIndia, anon-profit online fundraising platform. In addition, Ugam has also contributed to the PM CARES Fund and continues to support Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital with medical equipment.

The national lockdown has left millions of labourers struggling to access food and rations.Ugam’s mission will provide weekly ration kits – comprising pulses, rice, salt, oil, flour, spices, tea, sugar, and other essentials – to 10,000 hungry families.

After careful consideration, Ugam has partnered with three credible non-profit organisations via GiveIndia, to enable the delivery of these ration kits across vulnerable communities:

  • Dignity Foundation, supporting senior citizens
  • Goonj, working for disaster relief across India
  • Oxfam, working towards alleviating poverty across India

Sunil Mirani, Co-founder and CEO, Ugam, said, “I believe we cannot choose our circumstances, but we can certainly choose our response. Envisaged as an open-community initiative, the firm is also encouraging its employees, clients, associates, and well-wishers to join hands to together make an impact. Inviting volunteers to support this mission through donations as well as by helping spread the word.
