Four cities of Gujarat will participate in clinical trials to be led by the World Health Organization to find an accurate treatment for the corona epidemic. These include Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot, including Ahmedabad. The trial will set the standard of care for patients with the four drugs Remedesivir, Lopinavir, Hydroxychloroquine, and Interferon and care for corona patients.

Gujarat Chief Health Secretary Jayanthi Ravi said that clinical trials will improve the health of patients, mortality, the need for ventilator support and other drug reactions, etc. will also be discussed.

BJ Medical College from Ahmedabad and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Hospital, Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society Medical College from Vadodara, New Civil Hospital of Surat and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Medical College from Rajkot have been selected to participate in the clinical trial. Around 100 countries around the world will participate in this trial.

Four treatment options will be discussed

According to the WHO, four options for corona treatment during the trial will be studied based on their mutual effects. The aim is to quickly find out if any of the four medicines slow down the disease, prevent it, or improves the chances of survival.

It will be decided on the basis of the evidence of the trial whether other drugs need to be included in its treatment.
