SSC exam to commence on May 21

Panaji: The government on Wednesday granted permission to the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to conduct HSSC as well as SSC examinations.

Goa Board chairman Ramkrishna Samant informed that the HSSC exam will be conducted from May 20 to May 22, while SSC exam will be conducted from May 21 onwards.

The details of the time-tables for both exams will be announced on May 7.

The Goa Board had conducted most of the HSSC examination in March earlier this year, with exams for only Marathi, political science and geography papers remaining to be conducted.

Around 3,500 students for Marathi paper, 1,500 students for political science paper and 1,000 students for geography paper will be appearing, at the HSSC exam.

Meanwhile, around 20,000 students were scheduled to answer the SSC exam, which was set to begin on April 2. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the postponement of the same. The Goa Board had also arranged counselling for the SSC students awaiting their first Board exam, through respective schools.

The government has sought permission from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to conduct these exams. The exams would be conducted by following all the guidelines for the COVID-19 pandemic, including social distancing and wearing of masks.
