Chinese woman, 62, is killed after being hit by an out-of-control Holden that veered onto the wrong side of the road

A 62-year-old woman has died after being hit by an out-of-control car while walking on the side of a Hobart road with her husband.

The crash occurred on Wednesday at Montrose in the city's northern suburbs when the silver Holden veered onto the wrong side of the road on a bend.

Initial police investigations indicate excessive speed was a factor.

The car's driver, a 41-year-old man, and his male passenger, 46, escaped unhurt, while the woman, a Chinese national, died at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to come forward.
