NOIDA: The residents welfare association (
RWA) of
Sector 19 has demanded the removal of the area from the list of containment zones in the city, citing that no Covid-19 positive cases have been found in there.
A 50-year-old woman from Vaishali area in Ghaziabad, who tested positive on April 21 at a private hospital in Vaishali, is not a resident of Sector 19, claims the RWA.
Although the RWA managed to stall the sealing of the sector based on this ground, in official records of the administration, the sector is still shown as a
containment zone. As a result, residents complaints lack of official sanction to allow domestic help, electricians, plumbers, AC and RO service providers for the residents of the sector.
“On April 21, the sector was included in the red zone (now called containment zone) as one 50-year-old woman, who was a resident of Delhi and admitted in a private hospital in Vaishali for some medical condition, was found to be positive for coronavirus. But she was not a resident of Noida. Only her daughter and son-in-law are living on rented accommodation here. As her son was stuck in Mumbai due to the lockdown at the time of her test results, her son-in-law attended her in the hospital and gave the wrong address inadvertently without realising the consequences. On any criteria, this case should not be included in Noida quota. According to the norms being followed, this case should be either in Delhi or in Ghaziabad,” said R C Gupta, the RWA general secretary of Sector 19.
Gupta added that the RWA has raised the issue with concerned officials demanding the removal of the technical glitch where the sector is shown in the containment zone of the official data and are awaiting their response.
“Earlier at the time of the case detection, we had brought these facts to the notice of the concerned authorities and the sealing of Sector 19 was stalled. However, since the order for sealing was already issued, the sector technically continues in the containment zone even now. Also, although there is no sealing activated, we are unable to officially allow domestic help, RO and AC service providers, and electricians and plumbers to tend to the residents’ complaints. We request the district magistrate and the CMO to kindly look into this case and remove Sector 19 from the containment zone (Category-1) with immediate effect,” said Gupta.
The matter is now pending with the administrative officials.
