Woman's body found dumped outside hospital in remote WA town
The body of a woman has been found dumped in a remote mining town in WA's Pilbara region, sparking a major police investigation.
Police were called to Newman Hospital about 4am on Wednesday morning following the discovery of the woman's body in a wheelie bin.
A home in the vicinity of Nyaballee Road, a short walk away from the hospital and the local police station, has been cordoned off by police.
Officers have also requested all bottle shops in the mining town remain closed for the rest of the day in light of the incident.
Newman police are working with South Hedland detectives to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
At this stage, there is no confirmation on the age of the woman, nor on what caused her death.
The remote mining town, which is 1100 kilometres northeast of Perth, has a population of just over 7200.
