Army chief visits formations under the Eastern Command

KOLKATA: With necessary protection against Covid-19, including a face mask in place, Army chief Gen M M Naravane toured various formations under the Eastern Command over the last two days. The formations he visited included Sukna, Binnaguri and Panagarh. Before taking over as Army chief, Gen Naravane commanded the Eastern Command and has first hand knowledge of operations in this region.
"During his two-day visit the Chief of Army Staff was briefed in detail by the formation commanders on their operational readiness. Important training and logistics issues were also discussed. The Army chief also interacted extensively with the troops deployed on ground and took stock of the situation along the borders. Gen Naravane also inspected various facilities set up by the Army in its effort to contribute towards the nation's fight against Covid-19," a senior official said.

He complimented the high state of operational preparedness as well as training standards and exhorted all ranks to continue the good work in these difficult times. Thousands of soldiers are deployed in harsh, remote frontline areas along the country's northeastern states under the Eastern Command. With families living thousands of km away during the pandemic, their job has only got tougher.
