The Delhi government has decided to release nearly 4,000 Tablighi Jamaat members from quarantine centres as they have completed the required quarantine time. Those who are required for the Markaz investigation will be handed over to Delhi Police and rest will be sent back to their homes.
Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday said Jamaat members who are not required in the police investigation will be allowed to go home.
In the last week of March several thousands of Tablighi Jamaat members were evacuated from the Nizamuddin Markaz and the areas around it. Later, over a thousand of these members tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Rest, 4,000 were put under quarantine at various centres in Delhi.
Around 900 of the Jamaat members are residents of Delhi can go home, the rest will be sent home, the Delhi home minister said.
Satyendar Jain, in his order, directed officials of his department to get in touch with resident commissioners of the concerned states to arrange for the transportation of the Tablighi members. The process is already under, the sources have said.
