Landlord booked for raping minor sisters for months

Ludhiana: The city police have booked a man for allegedly raping two minor sisters for months, in absence of their parents. The police said the accused, who is also the owner of the building where the girls live their family, would call them at his house and rape them. He had also threatened the sisters with dire consequences if they told anyone about it.
However, the younger one told their mother about it on Monday after which a complaint was lodged with the police.
In her compliant to police, the girls’ mother stated that she and her husband were labourers and they had three children, including two daughters. She along with her family lived in a rented accommodation and the accused was their landlord. He also lives with his family in an adjoining house.
The mother added that she and wife of the accused worked in a factory and from the past over a month, she was home due to lockdown. On Monday afternoon, her younger daughter told her that the neighbouring uncle would often call her at his house and would rape her. The nine year old also told that the uncle used to harass her elder sister too.
After that the mother asked her elder daughter about it, she also revealed that the accused would often rape her. When she tried to raise alarm, the accused threaten to kill her. On getting this information the mother lodged a police complaint.
Investigating officer sub inspector Amandeep Kaur said the accused had been raping the girls for months when their parents went for work.
A case has been registered against him under various sections of the IPC and also under the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
