Telangana cops to show KCR's video to contain migrant workers' exodus

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao
HYDERABAD: In a bid to contain the exodus attempt of migrant labourers from state, Telangana police top brass on Wednesday decided to use chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s staunch appeal to migrants in Hindi to stay back in Telangana on Tuesday, to convince them not to return to their native states.
Sources said that the office of director general of police M Mahendar Reddy on Wednesday instructed all commissioners of police, district superintendents of police to widely share the video of KCR’s appeal in Hindi, to the migrants still in state.
"The instructions were to share chief minister KCR’s video of appeal to migrants, in various Whatsapp groups. Besides we also need to approach the areas and function halls where migrants have been residing and to show them the video. This is being done to develop confidence among migrants and convince them to stay in Telangana," sources in police told TOI.
The local cops are in the process to approach the migrants and try to convince them to stay back.
The state government has already given conditional relaxations permitting construction activity and industries to start operations, by following the guidelines issued by central government.
KCR who earlier called the migrants as 'partners' in the development of Telangana, on Tuesday night in his appeal to migrants to stay back said, "My brothers from others states, working for the growth of Telangana, as I told you in the past you’re the partners in the growth of Telangana. You need not have any apprehensions, all housing, real estate, industries are being reopened and you will have employment to do. So, try to stay back."
In the last few days, there has been few cases of large number of migrants coming on the roads and demanding that they be returned to their native states.
For migrants who have decided to return to their native places, the chief minister clarified that government is making transport arrangements in a scheduled manner, in coordination with other concerned states.
In Telangana, for nearly 7.5 lakh workers, the state government has provided Rs 1,500 per family or Rs 500 for single person besides 12kg rice or flour during the lockdown period.
