Coimbatore: Almost a month after it was closed, the fish market in Ukkadam resumed operations on Tuesday, bringing cheers among the public.
The shopkeepers have been asked to ensure physical distancing by their customers and keep the market premises clean. The city corporation has warned of severe action if they fail to adhere to the physical distancing norms and other guidelines.
On March 30, when it was reopened, public had thronged the market, throwing the physical distancing norms to the wind. The crowd was dispersed only with the help of police officials. Shortly after that, the city corporation had held a meeting with the shopkeepers, who decided to close the market till the end of lockdown when they were told about the consequences of not following physical distancing norms.
