Amid prevalent chaos and uncertainty over access to the essential services and commodities during the lockdown, we bring you the latest updates from Bengaluru.

* Update at 10.30am: Reeling under severe cash crunch in Covid-19 times, the beleaguered Karnataka government on Tuesday stopped additional Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners retrospectively from January 1, an official said on Tuesday.
* Update at 9.20am: Total number of Covid-19 positive cases in India rises to 49,391 including 33,514 active cases, 1694 deaths, 14,182 cured/discharged and 1 migrated: Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
*The Karnataka Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has reportedly raised Rs 190 crore for Covid-19 response, but not a single rupee has been spent for the purpose yet.
*After Delhi and Andhra Pradesh governments announced a steep hike in liquor prices, Karnataka on Tuesday indicated slapping a Covid tax -- in the 5%-15% band -- on alcoholic beverages of all categories. This is in addition to the 6% additional excise duty, announced in the budget, that came into effect on Tuesday.
*For the first since the outbreak of Covid-19, the total number of discharged patients in Karnataka is more than those under treatment and one in two positive persons has recovered so far, better than the national average.
*Liquor sales on Day 2 of the lockdown relaxation hit a record high for a single day with beverages worth Rs 197 crore selling across the state on Tuesday, compared to Rs 45 crore on Monday.
