Bihar CM asks chief secretary to conduct skill survey of returning migrant workers

PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday asked chief secretary Deepak Kumar to ensure a proper skill survey of all returning migrant workers so that their capacity can be utilised in a better way after completion of their 21-day quarantine period. He said the migrant workers could make valuable contribution in the state’s economy.
While chairing a high level review meeting with the chief secretary and other senior officials, the CM asked them to be sensitive towards peoples’ grievances and conduct speedy inquiry if any public complaint comes in the connection with the government funded schemes.
He also asked the officials to ensure regular monitoring of all the employment generating schemes and keep a close vigil on the works being executed under the MGNREGS.
CM further said large number of migrant workers, students and other people are these days arriving in Bihar from different states. “Ensure proper screening of all returning people and conduct medical testing of suspected cases as per the protocol,” he said.
He further asked the chief secretary to ensue Covid-19 testing facilities at district level so that maximum people could be covered for such testing. The district level testing centre should be started after fulfilling the set standard for such testing, he said.
