Lamborghini Huracan EVO RWD Spyder Set For Augmented Reality Reveal On May 7

If you thought Lamborghini wasn’t innovative enough, the Italian brand is now looking to become the first carmaker to launch a new model using Augmented Reality (AR).

The new Huracan EVO RWD Spyder will thus break cover tomorrow, May 7, at 13:00 CET (07:00 EST) on Lamborghini’s official website, which is fitting given the current “climate” with people needing to stay indoors as much as possible.

So how can you get in on the action? Simple. All you need is an iPhone or iPad with iOS 11 and an A9 processor or later. This includes the iPhone 6 and later, iPhone SE, iPad Pro, iPad (5th gen or later), iPad mini (5th gen or later), iPad Air (3rd gen) and iPod Touch (7th gen).

Come tomorrow, while browsing Lamborghini’s website at the previously-specified hour, simply tap ‘See in AR’ on your Apple device, and you’ll be able to see the new Huracan EVO RWD Spyder come to life in your own driveway, garden or even your living room.

You can rotate and expand the size of the vehicle, including going up to a 1:1 scale in order to see how it might fit your lifestyle. Lamborghini says this functionality will soon be available for its entire range of exotics.

“Apple cares deeply about the people of Italy and our friends at Lamborghini. We are inspired by their commitment to return to work safely during this critical time,” said Apple marketing VP Phil Schiller. “Apple and Lamborghini share a great passion for design and innovation. We are excited to support the launch of the new Lamborghini with Apple’s augmented reality technology, so that their fans around the world can experience it from the safety of their own homes.”
