An Australian home baker has shared how to make tasty chocolate eclairs using the new $29 Kmart sausage roll maker.

The woman from Perth, Western Australia, shared the recipe to the Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia Facebook group and impressed other home cooks with how simple it was to make. 

The woman used the sausage roll maker to bake the outer shell of the eclair, then sliced the pastries in half to fill with cream and topped with chocolate. 

To make the mixture, the woman said she used water, plain flour, butter, eggs and a pinch of salt.

The Facebook post quickly impressed other home cooks part of the social media group and gained more than 1,700 likes with 568 comments.

'This is amazing! I made eclairs regularly but in the oven - this is perfect as it will help with not having excess, you are a gem,' one woman said.

'I am never going to loose weight, I love this group way too much,' another said.

A third commented: 'Stop! Eclairs are my weakness. I didn't have any interest in the sausage roll maker until now!'

How to make eclairs in a sausage roll maker 

Ingredients - makes four eclairs

1/3 cup water

1/3 cup sifted plain flour

40g cubed room temperature butter

2 eggs room temperature

Pinch of salt

Method:

In small saucepan melt the butter, water and salt together

Bring to simmer add sifted flour

Mixed together well then return to heat cook until comes away from side of saucepan and comes together in a ball

Place in mixing bowl allow to cool

Mix paddle (or wooden spoon) add one egg and continue to mix together (will look like it has split but that's okay) until it comes together 

Add second egg and repeat until all comes together (it will be smooth and shiny)

Split the mixture into four and placed in the sausage roll machine cooking for about 18 to 20 minutes

Trim and allow to cool on cooling rack

Then when cool open one end to fill with cream and dunk in chocolate

The same home cook also shared how to make McDonald's-inspired apple pie pastries using the same Kmart gadget, and received an equal amount of praise.

The woman said she used four ingredients of tinned pie apples from Woolworths, sultanas, cinnamon and sugar to fill inside the puff pastry.

'One night we're going to experiment and half cook them and try deep frying to see if they do come out like [McDonald's] style ones,' the woman said.

Due to the popularity of the new multiple recipes, the Kmart sausage roll maker has sold out at various store locations.

Michelle, from Perth, used just three ingredients - Mars Bars, frozen puff pastry and icing sugar - to make her decadent dessert.

She wrapped four entire Mars Bars inside a pastry sheet and then baked it in the sausage roll maker until they were golden brown.

Many were amazed at how simple, easy and quick the dessert took to make while others said they were keen to make it as well.
