In sharpest surge in a day, Ghaziabad sees 13 cases, tally rises to 95

Ghaziabad’s Covid-19 tally has gone up to 95
Ghaziabad: In the single biggest surge in a day in Ghaziabad, 13 people, including a bank employee and a Delhi police sub-inspector, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.
All the patients have been admitted to ESIC Hospital in Ghaziabad’s Sahibabad.
With this, the district’s Covid tally has gone up to 95. Out of these, 50 patients have recovered and have been discharged, while 44 are active cases. One Covid patient has died.Officials said five of the patients were in the chain of contact of a bank employee from Mohan Nagar, who tested positive on April 27. Four members of the bank staffer’s family, including his wife and son, and 15 of his colleagues, including a branch manager and clerk, have been quarantined at Santosh Hospital.
The other cases include a Delhi police sub-inspector from Vaishali Sector 5, a dealer from the Sahibabad vegetable wholesale market, the daughter of a assistant regional roadways manager from Aligarh who had earlier tested positive, the wife and a colleague of a fire department driver who is a patient, a resident of Pratap Vihar Sector 12 and a person each from Kaila Bhatta and Shaheed Nagar.
Two other suspected cases have not been added to the district’s total count yet. Health department sources said an ambulance driver who stayed at MMG District Hospital had also tested positive, after which a sanitation drive was conducted in the area. It further said that a 66-year-old woman, who was admitted to Yashoda Hospital on April 28 with hypertension-related complications, had tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday night.
The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Sangeeta Garg, said the woman had been quarantined at the hospital itself. Ghaziabad chief medical officer NK Gupta said she would be tested again.
