CHANDIGARH:
Haryana cadre IAS officer Rani Nagar resigned from service on Monday citing issues of "personal safety." The 2014-batch officer was posted as director, archives and additional director, social justice and empowerment department, Haryana.
"I do hereby most humbly submit to you my resignation from IAS with immediate effect that is effective from May 4, 2020 forenoon. The reason for submitting this resignation is personal safety on government duty," says her resignation letter sent to the Haryana chief secretary through e-mail.
Copies of the resignation letter have also been sent to the President of India, Prime Minister, governor and chief minister of Haryana. According to rules, the final decision on acceptance of resignation of IAS officers is taken by the department of personnel and training (DoPT). The process may take around three months.
Nagar posted her resignation letter on her social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter) and said she is leaving for her native place in Ghaziabad with her sister after taking permission from the state government. She said the state government has also provided a vehicle to send her to her native place safely.
In the afternoon, she shared another picture on her social media account claiming that the vehicle provided by the state government to send her to Ghaziabad developed a fault and she was stuck at the toll tax plaza near Gharaunda in Karnal. Later, help was provided to her and she resumed her journey.

Thereafter, she filed a police complaint apprehending threat to her life and seeking registration of an FIR against the senior bureaucrat. A complaint filed by her is pending before a Chandigarh court.
During her stint as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Dabwali at Sirsa district in December 2017, she expressed apprehensions of threat to life from an unknown person and got a police complaint lodged.
