India update: India on Tuesday saw the biggest single-day spike with 3,900 cases and 195 deaths. The total number of cases in India has reached 46,711 and 1,583 people have died so far. The recovery rate is 27.41 per cent now, and the doubling rate has improved to 12 days. 

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday said it has noted the highest figures in new cases as well as in fatalities of novel in the past 24 hours and that it was because some states delayed reporting deaths.

The government also said that as the country is dealing with a highly infectious disease, the reporting of the cases should on time for better case management.

The global tally of coronavirus infections currently stands at 3,669,604, and 253,166 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
