NOIDA: Five healthcare workers, a CISF personnel and six others tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday. The 12 new cases took Noida’s Covid tally to 179. Three of the healthcare workers are contacts of an attendant in the Sector 30 district hospital found positive earlier — a 29-year-old nursing staff and a 45-year-old attendant, both women, and a 26-year-old operating theatre technician. Two others — a 26-year-old nursing staff from GIMS and a 28-year-old nursing staff from Child PGI — did not work in Covid wards.
The CISF personnel, a 27-year-old man, from the Surajpur camp had developed symptoms after which he was tested. But officials said his source of infection has not been traced yet. The camp, meanwhile, has been sealed. The source of infection of another man, a 19-year-old from Nithari, could not be traced, nor could that of a 42-year-old homeless man from Sector 45 who tested positive during surveillance.
The rest are all contacts of those who had tested positive earlier. A 22-year-old man from Advocate Colony in Pi 1, for instance, is the son of a patient who tested positive three days ago. In the same chain of contact is a 51-year-old man from Jal Vayu Vihar in Pi 3.
A 44-year-old man from Salarpur village also tested positive — his daughter-in-law from Khoda village had tested positive earlier and been dragged into an administrative tussle between Noida and Ghaziabad over where her case would be added. A 24-year-old man from Sector 22 is also the contact of a Covid-19 patient.
One patient, meanwhile, was discharged — 102 patients have recovered so far, taking Noida’s recovery rate to 57%.
Total 3,722 samples have been tested so far and 82 reports came in on Monday. Areas where cases were reported for the first time — Pi 3, CISF camp, Salarpur and Felix hospital in Sector 137 — will be demarcated as containment zones.
