PALAKKAD: A tribal couple was found dead in their house at Ampalakunnu in Mukkali in Attapadi.
Police said the woman, Shantha (31), was found smothered with a plastic rope in one room and her husband, C Chandran (44), was found hanging in another room in their house on Sunday. Police said family discord might have resulted in the tragedy. A preliminary inquiry by police and forensic experts indicted that Chandran first murdered Shantha and then committed suicide by hanging.
They are survived by two sons and a daughter - nine-year-old Manoj, eight-year-old Ramesh and one-and-a-half-year-old Suni. The children were sleeping when the incident happened in the wee hours. The bodies were returned to relatives after postmortem in District Hospital on Monday.
