Daily sports briefs | YouTube to screen EPL matches for free? Tyson v Tyson? These are those Jordon shoes - and more!
THESE ARE THOSE JORDAN SHOES
The must-see Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance" revealed how MJ almost rejected Nike in favour of Adidas. In the mid 80's Converse was the shoe of the NBA, while Nike was mainly focussed on track. Jordan initially opted for Adidas but - for a reason that they are surely still regretting now - were unable to deliver a custom shoe for MJ and the rest is history. The iconic Air Jordan basketball shoe ended up earning Jordan an estimated $200 million per year.
MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: It was MJ's mom who convinced him to "at least hear Nike out". Who says moms don't know best!
WAX ON, WAX OFF!
Kookaburra have developed a new wax coating for their cricket balls which allow the ball to be shined without saliva. A small sponge would be used to apply a thin layer of wax to the ball. The ICB has yet to approve the change but it could be a temporary solution to ease concerns over virus spread in cricket.
MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: The Aussies will be wondering if that means sandpaper will be allowed now?
YOUTUBE TO SCREEN EPL GAMES FOR FREE?
Reports in the British media suggest that while SkySports and BT Sport will broadcast most of the remaining EPL games, those that they aren't able to cover will be shown live and for free on YouTube. Since fans will be banned from stadiums, the idea is to make sure that they have access to games on TV.
MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Apparently no two matches will be screened at the same time, so with 92 matches still to be played, it could be an epic scenario for a couch potato during lockdown.
TYSON VS TYSON?
A clip of Mike Tyson hitting the pads has gone viral and increased calls for him to make an improbable return to the ring ... at the age of 53! Trainer Rafael Cordiero, who worked with Tyson, said he has the same speed and power as guys who are 21 years old. Even Donald Trump and promoter Oscar De La Hoya have jumped on the bandwagon sending messages of encouragement.
MYTWOCENTS VERDICT: Iron Mike is training for a 4-round charity fight to raise money for the homeless ... at his age it would be unwise to seriously contemplate a return to the big stage. But if he did, could we see a Tyson v Tyson (Fury) fight?
