Mother-of-one Amber Christie, 49, has been missing after she failed to return to left Evans Head home on the NSW north coast on Sunday afternoon
A mother-of-one has disappeared in mysterious circumstances as search teams and family members scour bushland for clues.
Businesswoman Amber Christie, 49, left her family home at sleepy Evans Head on the New South Wales north coast about 3.30pm on Sunday.
Family raised the alarm after she failed to return home by 6pm, police said in a statement.
Detectives fear the 'avid jogger' and walker may have injured herself in bushland and spent two nights in the cold.
Police, SES workers, surf life savers and Defence Force personnel scoured bushland for Ms Christie on Tuesday afternoon.
'We'll be searching all of the known walking tracks, the bush tracks and the beach areas,' Richmond Police District Inspector Darren Cloake told ABC Radio.
Helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft were brought in to help the search.
CCTV footage showed Ms Christie walking past the local pub, the Hotel Illawong, dressed in a puffer-jacket, leggings and sunglasses.
Local police confirmed she had left her wallet and phone at home, as friends said she tended to do when exercising.
Inspector Cloake told the Northern Star he feared Ms Christie may have hurt herself in a remote area and was unable to raise the alarm.
'I am not expecting foul play but I am keeping an open mind,' he was quoted telling the regional newspaper.
Ms Christie has lived in Evans Head with her husband, Avan, and their 20-year-old son for 14 years.
