Ariana Grande fans shut down Katharine McPhee after the actress expressed interest in playing Meg in Disney's live-action version of "Hercules."
On Monday, the "American Idol" runner-up tweeted a photo of her next to a screenshot of the animated character from the 1997 "Hercules," along with the caption, "Okay... hear me out."
McPhee was seemingly referencing the recent news that Disney had greenlit a live-action version of the animated classic, even though casting details are still up in the air. Advertisement—Kat McPhee (@katharinemcphee) May 4, 2020
While a few fans were supportive of McPhee's claim to the role, most of the comments instead called for Grande (who notably performed an elaborate cover of Meg's song "I Won't Say (I'm in Love)" for a Disney sing-along in April) to play the beloved character.

Disney confirmed on Thursday that a live-action "Hercules" is in the works, with "Avengers: Endgame" producers the Russo brothers also attached to the project.
