New Delhi: The benchmark equity indices on Tuesday failed to hold day’s gains and ended in the red due to fag-end selling in financial counters. Market sentiment turned cautious over subdued earnings and economic uncertainties injected by Covid-19.
The 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled over 800 points from its day’s high to end at 31,453.51, down 261.84 points or 0.83 per cent. Likewise, the NSE Nifty index settled 87.90 points or 0.95 per cent lower at 9,205.60.

Result calendar: Adani Enterprises, Kansai Nerolac,
YES Bank, 5Paisa,
HCL Technologies, Cyient, Gillette and RBL Bank are slated to announce their March quarter results.
Adani Ports: The company post market hours posted 73.98 per cent year-on-year (YoY) fall in consolidated net profit at Rs 334.39 crore for the quarter ended March 2020. The figure stood at Rs 1,285.38 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Rallis India: The board recommended a dividend of Rs 2.5 per share for FY20. The company also announced 57 per cent YoY fall in net profit at Rs 0.65 crore for the quarter ended March 31.
Astec Lifesciences: Net profit of the company jumped 145 per cent YoY to Rs 31.17 crore for the quarter ended March 31.
Apollo Pipes: Promoter Sameer Gupta of Apollo Pipes bought additional 1,25,000 shares in the company at Rs 309.98 each, NSE bulk deals data showed on Tuesday. He held 20.82 per cent stake in the company at the end of the March quarter.
Majesco: Amansa Holdings purchased additional 8,10,394 shares in Majesco at Rs 245.50, while DSP Mutual Fund sold 8,43,998 shares of the company at Rs 245.50. Amansa held 6.44 per cent stake in Majesco on March 31.
Pricol: Automotive parts manufacturer Pricol would commence operations at its plants in Tamil Nadu in a phased manner.
