"If people are in large numbers or groups, we can provide them with the medical certificate. If people meet doctors or stand near hospitals there are chances that COVID-19 spread," said Naval Kishore Ram, District Collector.

Pune: After several stranded students, workers, pilgrims, lined up outside different hospitals to get a medical certificate to travel outside the city, District Collector Naval Kishore Ram on Monday said that people should not line-up outside the hospital as this can lead to spread of coronavirus.

"If people are in large numbers or groups, we can provide them with the medical certificate. If people meet doctors or stand near hospitals there are chances that COVID-19 spread," said Naval Kishore Ram, District Collector.

He also clarified that many people are scared of the number of COVID-19 cases in Pune.

"I assure you that there is no cause of panic, workers and students can stay in the city. We are starting up with the industries, and businesses are coming back on track. So, there is no need to worry. Similarly, people who are planning to go back can submit their details and they will be allowed to go back to their states and homes after necessary approvals," he added.

He also clarified that all industrial units in Pune district and outside the limits of PMC and PCMC and containment zones of rural areas can start their operations.

The collector said that no formal permission and passes will be required for the employees and the industrial unit. However, no labour or employees from containment zones of Pune will be allowed to travel or work.

"Similarly, industries will have to make their own dedicated transport arrangements for travel in PMC and PCMC areas. Employees must carry their iCards so that they do not face any problem,” he concluded.

Officials of the city police on Monday informed that overall 583 people were allowed to move inter-district which included 256 cases of medical emergency.

Over hundreds of labourers wanting to return to their home towns had gathered in large numbers near Warje bridge. Officials of the Warje Malwadi police station had to step in to maintain law and order. The labourers calmed down after the police officials assured to collect their application request.
