New Delhi: Coronavirus Live Updates: Thousands of Indians stranded abroad because of the coronavirus crisis will be brought back by air and by sea from Thursday in the largest overseas evacuation since independence. Over 14,800 Indians in 13 countries will be brought back by 64 flights in the first week, says the foreign ministry. Three ships of the Indian Navy will sail out for Indian nationals in West Asia and the Maldives. The Indians were stranded because of airspace closures.
India recorded the biggest single-day jump in the number of coronavirus patients and deaths linked to the illness as 3,900 new cases were reported and 195 COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours. This takes the total to 46,433 COVID-19 cases so far, including 1,568 deaths. About 12,727 patients have recovered so far, the recovery rate stood at 27.4 per cent.
More than a quarter of a million people have died from the novel coronavirus worldwide, with over 85 percent of them in Europe and the United States, according to an AFP tally of official figures. The US had recorded 68,689 virus deaths, the most for any single country, while Europe was the hardest-hit continent with 145,023 confirmed fatalities.

Coronavirus News: Military Personnel Among 24 Coronavirus Positive At Delhi Army Hospital24 people including serving and retired military personnel admitted at the Army Hospital (Research And Referral) at the Delhi Cantonment have tested positive for coronavirus and shifted to the Base Hospital, sources in the army said on Tuesday.
All the people who have tested positive are from the cancer department, sources said.

The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has approved the use of drones in six green zone sites across six states in the country."With a view to facilitate operations by "No-Permission-No-Takeoff (NPNT) compliant drones, it has been decided to permit the same at six green zone sites. The Delhi government will charge 70 per cent extra tax on liquor from today amid the coronavirus pandemic. Calling the new tax "special corona fee", the Arvind Kejriwal government in a late night order on Monday said the police should allow the shops to remain open from 9 am to 6:30 pm. The 70% tax is on the maximum retail price or MRP per bottle. For instance, a liquor bottle with a pre-tax MRP of Rs 1,000 will now cost Rs 1,700.

Two special flights are set to operate on Thursday to evacuate Indians stranded in the United Arab Emirates due COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Consulate in Dubai has announced.
The passenger list for the two flights -- Abu Dhabi to Kochi and Dubai to Kozhikode -- will be finalized by the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, a statement said.
